A Clydesdale rocking horse handcrafted by members of the Ashburton Woodworkers’ Club drew plenty of interest during the Waitangi Day market in the Ashburton Domain.
But despite club members’ best hopes, there was no purchaser for the 25kg steed.
Club president Bill Healey said after some discussion, members decided they would raffle their equine creation closer to Christmas.
He last week told The Ashburton Courier, members had spent more than 100 hours over the past few months working on two rocking horses. The other had sold on TradeMe for $700.
‘‘It took us weeks and weeks, because we built two of them as the same time,’’ Healey said.
Meanwhile, another club project of an outdoor table was due to be listed online for sale in coming weeks.
The table, topped with a large slab of elm wood, has been sanded, restored and covered with epoxy resin. It would be listed on Facebook MarketPlace.
