Gymnasts at Dynamic Gymnastic Sports have lost a little of their bounce, and they need the community’s support to get it back.

They are looking to replace their gym’s spring floor.

Dynamic Gymnastic Sports spokesperson Amanda Davies said the gym had secured an amazing deal on springs, but needed help to make the dream a reality.

‘‘We are asking the community to help us raise the funds to purchase a spring floor at our gym.

‘‘We are a non-profit club and have athletes from crawling to adults, and of any ability,’’ she said.

The floor is one of the most essential pieces of equipment used in gymnastics.

It is made up of 1600 springs, covered with plywood and foam.

The foam cover is in good condition.

All programmes within the gym, located in the grounds of the Ashburton Racecourse, used the floor.

In its current state, it was a bit on the hard side, Davies said.

‘‘If we can do a bit of renovation to increase the floor’s spring, we’ll be able to use it even more.’’

Donations can be made via the gym website.

Every individual spring bought at $5 each will have the purchaser’s name attached. Every lot of 32 springs bought for $160 will get a special panel specifically made, with the family or business name, for the gym board and on the gym’s social media pages.

‘‘If we can get our extended gymnastics community to help chip in and purchase a spring or two, we’ll be able to get the springs … and have a new bouncier floor before the end of the year,’’ Davies said.
