Long lashes, high heels and glamorous hairstyles.

That is what you will see on a weekly basis at the Mt Hutt Memorial Hall, as nine lads prepare for Ms Methven on October 19.

It is the first time the crossdressing beauty pageant fundraiser has been held since 2017.

The contestants, each sponsored by Methven businesses, are having a blast as they get ready to raise money for Methven Pre School.

Ms Team Hutchinson Ford – Simon Fleetwood is among them.

‘‘The hardest part of the contest is remembering all the moves in the dances, but we are getting the hang of the routines,’’ Fleetwood said

His fellow contestants are Ms Dan van der Salm, PGG Wrightson Real Estate – Bernie Cox; Ms Farmsource – Wynand Putter; Ms Jackson Holmes – Harry Jackson; Ms May Brothers Contracting Ltd – Kirk Power; Ms Methven Panel & Paint Ltd – Matt Schofield; Ms Molloy Agriculture Ltd – Josh Lawton; Ms Rosa Dekker, Bayleys Canterbury – Glen Limbrick; Ms South Pacific Seeds NZ Ltd – Marc Jorgensen.

Each contestant will be dressed in outfits, assisted by props from their jobs. They will perform an individual dance routine to their chosen piece of music.

With a little assistance from the committee organising the fundraiser, each of the contestants have discovered their inner strengths, and will perform items including musical, physical and artistic displays.

They will strut their stuff down a cat walk, donning a range of outfits including across the categories of evening wear and active wear.

Two of the contestants are getting full body waxes, some are shaving parts of their bodies, while others are going natural.

Judges will take into account not only their performances, but also their personality.

Along with bragging rights, the Ms Methven Trophy is up for grabs.

Our Lady of the Snows School previously ran the fundraiser. The winner of the last competition in 2017 was Ms Methven Pubs – Jan Lukasek.

Pageant committee member Aimee Bullivant said many of the contestants were entered by their bosses, but all were embracing the event nonetheless.

‘‘It’s a fun-filled event that brings the community together while making a positive impact on early childhood education,’’ Bullivant said

‘‘We are feeling pretty good that most of the downstairs tickets are already sold and upstairs is filling up,’’ Bullivant said.

  • Doors will open at 6pm on October 19 for Ms Methven, which will begin at 7pm. There will be silent auctions, cash or eftpos bar and food trucks on site. Tickets are available from trybooking.com/nz/TKW. Downstairs tickets $75, including a platter, upstairs seating $60.
