Today is Daffodil Day, but volunteers did not wait to get into the spirit of the event. Earlier this week Ashburton’s branch of the Cancer Society joined with Ashburton vintage car drivers to deliver bright yellow blooms to businesses. Brand and communications co-ordinator Deb McPherson said volunteers were looking forward to the Daffodil Day appeal today and tomorrow. ‘‘Collectors will be out and about at sites around Ashburton,’’ McPherson said. Eftpos would be available at most sites and people were also able to donate online at daffodilday.org.nz
