Tamar Party in the Paddock concert goers on Saturday danced the night away.

More than 1000 attended the Glastonbury-style festival on Tamar Farm at Mt Somers, which started in the day time. Talented Canterbury musicians kicked off proceedings. Muzza & Mates, Morgan & Mates, Landgirls’ Anna Munro and Abbey Mackenzie, and Bryce Wastney from Nelson entertained, before the Brad Staley Trio got everyone up and dancing.

Organisers and hosts Richard and Chrissie Wright said about 1100 tickets sold, including about 200 being for children up to 15. It was slightly less than expected, and they had been about 500 tickets short of breaking even.

Nevertheless, the event was an ‘‘amazing success’’, and they were considering holding it again next year.

‘‘It was a fantastic day and night catering for all ages,’’ Chrissie said.

‘‘Plenty for everyone with a laid-back relaxed atmosphere, but plenty of music everyone knew and lots up dancing the night away.’’

Children’s entertainment was provided by Wanderlust Amusements from Geraldine, with bouncy castles, mini jeeps, reverse bungees and more. Food trucks offered a variety of tastes, while a massive bonfire added both ambience and heat for a fairly chilly night. An onsite campsite proved a popular option for many.

‘‘Feedback has been extremely positive,’’ she said.

‘‘It was so fantastic to get the community together and the support from both the Mayfield and Methven Lions clubs helping to run the event. All the feedback we have had is that we must do it again, but we will just have to see if we are brave enough!’’
