
A person who sustained serious injuries when hit by a car in a driveway at Rakaia on Saturday, is now in a stable condition.
The car hit the person about 9.25am, at a property on Normanby Rd, Rakaia.
One person sustained serious injuries, and was airlifted to Christchurch Hospital.
However, by yesterday morning their condition was described as stable.
‘‘Inquiries are ongoing as to what has occurred. Continuing to liaise with the driver of the vehicle,’’ a police spokesperson said.
A St John spokesperson said they could not provide an incident report as the accident was on private property.
The Rakaia Volunteer Fire Brigade also responded to the accident, helping at the scene.
Meanwhile in Ashburton, police are investigating a collision involving a cyclist and a vehicle on Tucker St on Saturday afternoon.
“Appears no injuries were reported, and Police are making inquiries into the incident, including locating the vehicle involved,” the spokesperson said.
