EA Networks has partnered with a New Zealand trust to insulate up to 100 homes in Mid Canterbury.

Community Energy Action Charitable Trust began a door knocking campaign this month around target areas in Ashburton.

EA Networks and the trust are aiming to insulate the first 40 homes by March 31. The initiative is part of the government’s Warmer Kiwi Homes scheme. EA Networks is contributing to the cost for qualifying homes.

Trust general manager Louw Bezuidenhout said door knocking was important.

‘‘To connect with those that might be eligible for funding and reassure them that it’s not too good to be true and we can help.”

EA Networks chief executive Onno Mulder said helping residents was important to the company. ‘‘Particularly when it comes to warmer, drier, healthier homes that are cheaper to heat,’’ Mulder said.

To be eligible for Warmer Kiwi Homes funding, a recipient must be the homeowner (owneroccupier) of a home built before 2008, and either have a Community Services Card/ SuperGold Combo Card, or own and be living in a home in a qualifying area.
