It was a dark and rainy night when the final horror maze for the season was held on Friday.

The horror-ible weather did not deter visitors from the Tamar Beef maze near Methven.

About 160 people turned out for the event.

As the maze’s grim reapers, massacre maniacs, zombies and other deathly characters got wet and cold, the event finished up about half an hour early at 10pm.

But by Sunday the sun was shining.

The scene was set for some wholesome fun, and the Tamar Beef final maize maze of the season was held.

It was the perfect finale to another successful season of mazes at the Tamar Beef site.

Organiser Chrissie Wright said the final total raised from the season for Hato Hone St John was $6000.

‘‘Sunday was a lovely day and we had a nice lot of mostly families attend, plus a nice young couple on a first date,’’ Wright said.

A competition, where participants had to find nine signs in the maze, and then fill out an entry form to go in a draw, was won by Andrea Coles of Methven. She won a $100 meat pack.
