If you have the urge to hit the road in a campervan or caravan this summer make sure you get along to The South Island Motorhome Show.
The two day show, a project of the Ashburton Lions Club, is back again this year after being cancelled last year due to covid.
Show convener Philip Lynch said there will be plenty on offer for anyone who owns a motorhome or is thinking of buying, as well as being a fun family day out.
There will be an assortment of new caravans and motorhomes for sale and around 40 trade stalls and private stallholders selling all things motorhome and camping related.
Philip said at present there were 13 private sellers registered. ‘‘Most of the bigger sites have been taken by people from previous years, so we get a lot of repeat customers.’’
Social campers will arrive on Friday and set up in a designated area and will be camping during the show.
At the last show in 2021 around 280 social campers were on site.
There will be at least six food stalls at the show offering a variety of food and drinks.
‘‘The Lions caravan will be here and will be run by a group of parents who are fundraising for their son to go to Japan,’’ Philip said.
Just $5 will get you into the show with under 15 free and eftpos available, all proceeds go back into the community.
‘‘The whole idea is to get the people here for the vendors, it’s not for our benefit,’’ Philip said. ‘‘If we can get 10,000 people through here who have supported the vendors we’ve done a really good job.’’
On Sunday there will be a bouncy castle for kids, and Philip hopes to have Highland Dancers performing as well.
The show runs at the Ashburton Showgrounds on February 11 and 12, gates open at 9am.
