ANZ Ashburton raised $34,500 for the Cancer Society Mid Canterbury from its annual Daffodil Day Quiz Night and Auction Thursday last week at the Hotel Ashburton.
This was about $7500 more than last year.
Agri banking team member Kate Oliver said the bank was proud to be celebrating its 34th year of sponsorship of Daffodil Day.
More than 100 businesses and families supported the event. There was more than 155 prizes up for grabs, and a further 27 silent auction items and 12 verbal auction items. The event was a sell out as 80 teams entered and more than 400 people were gathered in the room. The quiz master was Ashburton insurance specialist James Cochrane, while the auctioneer was Ashburton real estate agent Hamish Niles.
The winning team was Up the Mount.
‘‘We are looking forward to hosting our best event yet next year being our 20th year of running the quiz,’’ Oliver said.
